About Appalachian Smith

     Born and raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and we didn't have a whole lot. What we did have was ingenuity, the kind you develop when you have to figure things out for yourself, with whatever's in front of you.

That's still how I work.

     I am a self-taught silversmith, learning something new every day. I don't have a mentor, no one personally showed me the ropes. I figured it out the way mountain people figure most things out: by doing it, making mistakes, and doing it again (and watching a ton of videos...lol).

      I buy and melt silver down, forge the metal by hand, and build something entirely new. Some pieces have not a single prefabricated part. Just raw material, heart, heat, and time.

     I started smithing in my tool shed. The Winters got so bad my quench bowl was freezing solid, so I moved my bench and forge inside the house. That's mountain life.

     This isn’t mass‑produced jewelry. It is work made slowly, intentionally, and with respect for the materials. Each ring, pendant, and bracelet carries the marks of the process: the hammer textures, the fire stains, the subtle imperfections that prove a human hand made it.

     Every piece I make is one of a kind — because when you're hand-forging from scratch, that's the only way it comes out. No two are exactly alike. That's not a selling point. That's just the truth.
